Simply pay a visit to the lost and found property of your local golf club and you will quickly see how much expensive property is mislaid by players’ intent on lowering their handicap. Without their favorite 7 iron, long haul driver or lucky putter, they are going to find they are indeed handicapped, but in a completely different way than they envisaged. Using golf club labels is a simple and yet highly effective way of securing expensive golf kit and not simply the clubs, but all of your equipment.

Golf club labels can be easily and quickly sourced from the internet, with simple to use templates and designs which can be used on your clubs and equipment discretely and easily. The cost of buying golf club labels is extremely low and certainly only a tiny fraction of the price of one of your prized clubs! Golf club labels are easy to use and highly durable with all-weather materials used in their construction and to stick them to your clubs and possessions.

Delivery is straight to your door and the entire order process should take only a few days, in many cases you can get your labels well before your next round on the course!

Fitting identification labels will save your clubs from becoming mislaid or mistakenly taken by other players, and they also serve a very useful function in deterring would-be thieves from taking your clubs and equipment because they are so readily identifiable. Most losses of golfing equipment stem from simply mislaying a club while playing or at the clubhouse, however it is a simple task to get lost clubs back to their rightful owner when your name and contact information is affixed to them. Even in cases where theft has occurred, by identifying your clubs and golfing kit you are increasing the chances of successfully recovering them by adding an identification label as otherwise they will simply sit in a police warehouse until public disposal.

With even a very basic set of clubs costing $100, it pays to use golf club labels which can cost only a few cents each. The economic case is even greater when a typical regular player will have more than $1,000 in golfing equipment which is all very movable and easily mislaid. There is no greater, value for money investment a player can make than by investing in a set of clear identification golf club labels.

Adding personalized ID labels to your valuables really does work to help you recover lost or stolen items! I know, because I have first-hand experience in this matter.

Part of my job requires that I travel frequently for business. And, I have gotten into the habit of reading quite heavily while on these business trips. Reading helps to pass the time on flights, in airports, taxis, and so on – as well as to help me catch-up on industry trends and analysis.

Carrying around multiple magazines or books can be quite a hassle, however. So, I recently purchased a Kindle (digital e-book reader). It is an amazing piece of technology and affords me the luxury of storing dozens of books and magazines for review at any time – without the bulk and inconvenience of transporting the printed versions.

My Kindle has become a valuable asset in my business and personal travels. I take it with me everywhere now and it is an essential piece of my carry-on luggage. As a matter of fact, my Kindle has replaced my laptop as the first thing I break out, after the airline pilot gives word that it is okay to use personal electronic devices.

Well, on a recent Alaska Airlines flight, you can imagine my surprise as I realized my Kindle was missing. After de-boarding the plane and walking to the waiting lounge for my connecting flight, I reached into my carry-on bag to take out my trusty e-book reader. But it wasn’t there. After thinking back, I remembered using it and then putting it in the seat pocket in front of me as I got up to stretch my legs before landing.

There was no time to go back to the first gate to ask if anyone had turned in the device before my connecting flight. So, I feared the worst… My Kindle may be gone for good. Just then, my cell phone rang from a number that I did not recognize. I answered the phone and, to my amazement, it was an Alaska Airlines customer service agent. She stated that they had found my Kindle in the seat pocket of my first flight and that she noticed the ID My Stuff label on the back with my name and cell phone number. She asked if I was still in the airport and said she would do her best to get it to me right away.

The wonderful Alaska Airlines agent borrowed an airport golf cart and was able to get my Kindle back to me before my next flight departed. I was thrilled to have my Kindle back in-hand, truly before I could even really miss it. The ID My Stuff label had absolutely saved the day! Without that ID label, it most likely would have been weeks before I got the device back – if even at all.

Shipping labels and mailing labels come in all shapes and sizes and many are not made from what you may at first sight believe! It is not only how some of them are made that may give you pause for thought but sometimes, a shipping label originating from one part of the globe can give a wry smile when it ultimately arrives at its final destination.

Vintners for example have been working on numerous ways to accentuate the look and feel of their wines and packaging, notably concentrating on the bottle and labeling which has itself become big business within the industry. California is typical of the developments in marketing wine by concentrating on the packaging even when they have an already excellent wine inside. A good example is the 2006 Retour Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with a bottle that weighs in at 2 pounds 5 ounces and that’s empty! The weight is in large part due to the metal label applied to the bottle which simply adds a significant amount of weight (almost a pound) which may be great if you are into that sort of thing but buy a case of the stuff and you are quite literally shipping 12 pounds of shipping label!

In a case of cultural differences playing their part, an Australian firm manufactured the country’s leading brand of sticky tape under the brand name “Durex”. In an export drive, millions of rolls of the stuff were shipped overseas but a degree of consternation occurred when the initial shipments arrived in the UK – perplexed customs officers were confronted by shipping labels and manifests declaring the goods to be “Rolls of Durex” – in the UK, Durex is the leading brand of prophylactic!

A near marketing disaster was created when Johnson & Johnson chose a cutesy little baby as the poster child for a baby food they were selling into certain African countries. Unfortunately, in Africa many of the people are illiterate and in any event there are so many languages and dialects spoken that labeling a food package is almost irrelevant. Instead, what you see on the tin is what you expect to find when you open the container and while here at home, the Johnson baby may be as cute as button, in Nigeria consumers were put off the product because they thought they were actually buying cutesy white babies ready for the pot!

When it comes to language and translation, shipping labels are a wealth of funny stories and incidents. Customs inspectors in New Jersey were confronted with a shipment imported from India which the shipping labels declared to be full of “Burned Cow” and they certainly had an aroma of bad BBQ emanating from it too. A team from the Center for Disease Control arrived and after establishing a quarantine and mobile laboratory to conduct tests and deal with the contents they proceeded to treat the packages with rubber gloves. Opening the packages revealed nothing more innocuous than hand carved wooden sculptures of cows in various poses (the cow being the most sacred animal for many Indians) and which had been charred as part of their finishing.

Shipping labels may be the source of fun and controversy for some but they are in fact simple to produce and source as well as performing a valuable function. You can design your own shipping labels easily in a custom format to suit your needs or simply source pre-designed ones for a special message such as “Fragile” – cheap and fast, it’s your choice but try to avoid the funny mishaps too!

Posting a tow-away sign on your lot may be one way of trying to keep those looking for free parking at bay but what happens when the tow company employee turns up and takes the wrong vehicle?

You can simply and easily control your parking slots and who uses them by making sure they have an easily displayed and customized parking tag so no mistakes can be made.

Implementing parking control is not difficult though it is certainly not top of anyone’s agenda unless the issue has become blown out of all proportion. Thankfully, it does not have to be a major chore and here is a simple to follow, seven step process to resolve the problem.

Step One – Choose the Tag Product

You have three main choices available – a custom hang tag (parking hang tags hang off the rearview mirror), a bumper sticker or rearview mirror decal and finally, an inside window sticker.

No matter which you choose, it should be durable and easily identifiable; hanging tags are simple but some users don’t like something dangling from the rearview mirror but they are secure and cannot easily be interfered with. A rearview mirror decal does the job simply as does an inside mirror sticker.

One tip is to use whichever product you choose in a uniform manner so everyone has the permit displayed in the same location which helps avoids mishaps with the tow company.

Step Two – Choose Your Design

A simple design is best but do not forget to add your company logo!

You are looking for a design which is simple but stands out easily enough from outside or some distance from the vehicle - you are not looking to add to the aesthetics of the vehicle itself (that is someone else’s property remember), but it needs to be easily identifiable and visible.

Step Three – Ink Color

Choose the ink color and steer clear of multiple colors – a strong color and white are excellent but avoid jazzy, psychedelic combinations – it’s going on someone’s car and a customer or employee in an expensive vehicle may not take kindly to something they consider “trashy” or tacky being stuck on their vehicle.

Step Four – Text Addition

Use a font that is clear and readily readable – Arial or Times Roman for instance – again nothing jazzy or fancy.

What you are looking to add is simple; “Parking Permit” and date of expiry may be all you need but if you wish to control not just the drivers but also the vehicles parking in your space, you can add the license tag number to the permit as well.

It is simple to use a barcode which can be added to the tag and is easily scanned by whoever is responsible for controlling your parking spaces and lot access – a barcode also removes any privacy issues because there is no need for names, expiry dates or any information to be on display and a barcode needs a scanner to read the information.

Summary

It is a simple step to control access to your lot and your commercial property; parking in certain areas is at a premium and needs to be controlled and regulated to ensure the even flow of your business. Staff need to be able to park easily and get into work without the hassle while how many of your customers are not going to be impressed if they turn up at your premises but have to find parking several blocks away.

A parking permit is easily created and forms part of a manageable parking control policy which will ensure the smooth operation of your business without demanding attention out of all proportion to handling this straight forward situation.

Using shipping labels would be organized and well-planned – who needs that? Let’s just go with the flow and discover some of the great reasons you shouldn’t use shipping labels!

A kid’s crayon is so colorful and always gets attention. When you address a package with one of your kid’s crayons, that is sure to be the package that everyone opens first. Nothing says a first class presentation like a Periwinkle crayon!

Sometimes a surprise is fun. Leave the “To” information out and leave them guessing. See just how long it takes for them to figure out the package was from you. If they really care about you – they’ll know for sure the package was yours. Really, you are doing yourself a favor with this one.

Children need to practice their handwriting. Why not let them practice addressing your packages? If the handwriting is poor – there might be some slight problem with mailing the package – but that’s just a chance we all take these days. This is the ideal time to let Junior practice their “ABCs.”

Always address packages when you have missed a night’s sleep. When you’ve been up all night with a colicky baby or working on a presentation, this is the ideal time to address your package. They say the senses are heightened when you have a lack of sleep – then again there is the lack of motor skills that some complain about. But we’re sure your package will arrive eventually.

Close your eyes and open to a page in your address book and point your finger. The name your finger points to is the person this package is really meant for. You see, had you used a shipping label you would have gotten in the way of this package’s true karma. Thank heavens for the Universe and Divine Intervention!

If you would like to actually get a package to its destination, please consider buying your mailing labels from MaverickLabels.com, a custom label printing company.

Radio frequency identification or RFID is the technology that uses radio signals to trak an items location; if you read about a convict being released but compelled to wear an ankle bracelet to track them, the you are looking at a practical example of RFID.

RFID has far more constructive uses than just making sure a crook sticks to a curfew. RFID tags are used to track containers and shipments even down to the individual parcel in certain cases, but the technology has recently been enjoying new application.

Wells Fargo has the job of tracking thousands of laptops from hundreds of locations and knowing when one can leave a location and who ought to have possession of it has been a security nightmare. Using RFID, each laptop has been implanted with a tag which has upon it the information necessary to automatically detect whether it can in fact leave their offices and in who’s possession it ought to be. More than this, in the event of a lost or stolen laptop, RFID can be employed to track the location of the device in order to recover it.

Though the concept behind RFID is simple, the technology required is in fact extremely complex. In this instance, complex technology does mean high cost for individual readers and tags and the price tag for most RFID solutions is beyond the budget of individual customers when insurance and ensuring back-up procedures are so much more cost effective. An RFID kit from Tiktag will probably cost in the region of $190 yet insuring the laptop against loss of theft will cost a fraction of that amount.

RFID technology is not limited to tracking assets and determining the location of missing items for big companies with car tracking technology having been around for over a decade and the benefit certainly outweighs the cost in such instances. When it comes to smaller, portable devices such as laptops, smart phones and personal items the cost effective technology for RFID tagging for personal use is still some distance away.
